ECG/EKG
What is an ECG or an EKG?
An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a test that monitors how your heart functions by measuring your heart’s electrical activity. An electrical impulse (or wave) flows through your heart, this wave causes the muscle to contract and pump blood out of the heart.
An Electrocardiogram machine tracks and reports the electrical activity that goes through the heart. A doctor can then assess if this electrical activity is normal or abnormal.
An ECG may be requested if you have elevated blood pressure, arrhythmia, chest pain, bradycardia (slow heartbeat), syncope (fainting) or palpitations (irregular heart beat). An abnormal ECG result may be an indication of a range of different heart problems.
Bowen Medical will assist you with your ECG requested by your doctor, and if you have any of the above complaints we are here to assist you.
